Year of the Dragon

Gong Xi Gong Xi! Happy Chinese New Year Everyone!

It is the year of the dragon! My sister's year :) I hope this year will bring you all good fortune! The end of last year something unexpected, sad and tragic happened so in tradition my family and I did not celebrate Chinese New Year this year. But I would like to share the little things that will make this year special.
Starting the new year with Tubereuse scented Diptyque candle.
As part of my New Years Resolution 2012- eat healthy!
Banana with delicious muesli "Spezial" from Switzerland.

Red is the colour on Chinese New Year. My new Chanel "Rouge Carat" winter collection 2011 :)

An arrow I bought from a temple near my house. With a picture of a dragon. You can write your wish behind it. Arrows bring luck and ward off evil spirits, after a year you can bring it back to the temple and they will burn it.

New Years Card
Instead of sending christmas cards, the Japanese send new year cards. Noot just one or two but hundreds to families, friends and coworkers. I sent one to my school and they hung it on the bulletin board in the staff room♥! They told me my handwriting was cute like a child's haha

Pea and Ham Soup

The best thing about winter is the comfort food! I tried this recipe and it was tasty. The only thing I did differently was to put it in a slow cooker overnight which saved me heaps of time. After that I would blend in batches, add cream and re cook.
Great way to start your day

Nagasaki- Huis Ten Bosch

A whole city built like the Netherlands right in the middle of Japan's Nagasaki called Huis Ten Bosch. It honestly felt like I had stepped into Europe. Dutch food, souvenirs and architect... simply beautiful. What can you do here? shop, eat, shows, rides (no rollercoasters unfortunately), haunted houses. We stayed from open right till it closed, because we just had to go through everything! Totally worth it!
Good Latte
Beautiful lights
Teddy Bear Museum

And O.M.G I pretty much pee-ed my pants with excitment after I saw a restaurant based on my favourite comic book "One Piece"
Curry and Rice Luffy's Strawhat & Thousand Sunny Mango dessert
Then a cruise on the Strawhat's pirate ship.......
Thousand Sunny!! <3

Dream come true.

Nagasaki- Peace Park

Wow I have been so busy these holidays, I have not had time to post! My friend and I went to Nagasaki and besides shopping we visited the Peace Park. I'm not sure what to say of it but it truly does remind us what the damages of war can do. Of course the Peace Park showed and wrote the damages of what the Americans did but it did not say anything about the Japanese being at war with other countries. I've seen Japanese History books they teach to children and everything regarding World War Two is glossed over. A touchy topic but I just can't help but wonder, my grandfather and grandmother experienced first hand what the Japanese did to them when they occupied their country...I can't imagine what they went through. All in all wars are bad and should be stopped.
The Hypocenter (Ground Zero)
Peace Statue
A Globe showing all the places where nuclear bombs have been tested.
A clock where its hands stopped at 11.02. The time of the impact.

Thousands of beautiful paper cranes.
